NATO rejects the idea of establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed Friday that the alliance will not establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine, after Kyiv requested help to stop the Russian bombing, noting at the same time that the alliance detected the use of cluster bombs in Ukraine.

“The allies agree that NATO planes should not be used in Ukrainian airspace or NATO soldiers should be deployed on Ukrainian territory,” Stoltenberg said after an urgent meeting with foreign ministers of the alliance countries.
