The US State Department said Friday that Washington hopes to lift several sanctions imposed on Russia on the condition that Ukraine “restores its sovereignty.”
A senior State Department official told reporters that US sanctions against Russia over Ukraine were “not intended to be permanent.”
“When we see the end of Russian aggression against Ukraine and the restoration of its territorial integrity, we hope to be able to see the end of the use of these punitive tools,” he added.
He stressed that the restrictions imposed on Moscow “are not intended to be permanent.”
The Russian special military operation in Ukraine has entered its 23rd day, as the Russian army continues to destroy Ukrainian military targets, while the West imposes unprecedented sanctions on Moscow.
